LAFAYETTE, LA (November 29, 2024) – Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Wilcox Street yesterday. A neighbor reported the fire around 5:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, a large wooden shed was on fire in the backyard. The fire spread to the exterior of the dwelling, eventually igniting the attic. The home sustained moderate fire damage, while the shed was completely destroyed.

The occupants of the dwelling were not home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The shed did not have any electrical services. Fire investigators suspect someone entered the structure and intentionally set a fire.

Anyone with information is urged to call Lafayette Fire Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS (8477).
