LAFAYETTE, LA (January 2, 2025, 9:24 a.m.) – Lafayette Police are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred around 8:19 a.m. at the intersection of South East Evangeline Thruway and Bellot Street.
Preliminary Investigation:
- A Ford F-450 hauling a trailer struck a bicyclist.
- Upon arrival, officers discovered the female bicyclist deceased at the scene.
Traffic Impact:
- Road Closure: All southbound lanes of the Evangeline Thruway are closed between Willow Street and Goldman Street.
- Detour: Motorists are advised to avoid this area and seek alternate routes.
Investigation:
- Lafayette Police Department investigators are currently on the scene.
- The investigation is ongoing.
