Submitted by United States Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana

WASHINGTON (January 8, 2025) – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant the Rapides Area Planning Commission $320,000.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to improve transportation in Alexandria.

“By investing in our transportation systems now, we’re building an economy for 2050,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will strengthen Louisiana’s infrastructure, making our state a more hospitable place for families and businesses.”

The project aims to improve mobility through enhanced pedestrian, bicycle, and transit connections. It will identify a list of prioritized capital projects, operational improvements, and provide planning-level designs and cost estimates to inform local, regional, and state project programming.
