WASHINGTON (January 9, 2025) – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will allocate $117,946,000 in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding to the State of Louisiana in response to Hurricane Francine.
The funds are made available through the American Relief Act, which passed with Congressman Higgins’ support on December 20, 2024. HUD will now publish rules for the CDBG-DR program in the Federal Register, and the State will assemble its corresponding action plan.
“Hurricane Francine impacted many of the communities that were still recovering from Hurricane Ida,” said Congressman Higgins. “These long-term recovery dollars through the CDBG-DR program will assist Louisiana in restoring economic stability and advancing mitigation projects. My office will continue working to ensure South Louisiana has the necessary resources to rebuild and recover.”
