Update
Lafayette, LA (January 27, 2025) – Due to last week’s freezing temperatures and snow, the lane closures scheduled for Academy Road and Doucet Road have been rescheduled to take place from Tuesday, January 28, until Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The closures are necessary for sewer infrastructure repairs being performed by a Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) contractor.
Academy Road
The northeast bound travel lane in the 100 block of Academy Road (heading toward Rena Drive) will be closed from January 28 through February 11, 2025.
Traffic Impacts and Detour Information:
- Motorists traveling northwest bound on Camellia Boulevard (heading toward Johnston Street) will not be permitted to turn right onto Academy Road. Instead, they must detour via Eastland Drive and then onto Rena Drive.
- Motorists traveling northeast bound on Mt. Vernon Drive will not be permitted to access Academy Road. The detour will direct them to Camellia Boulevard, to Eastland Drive, and then to Rena Drive.

- Rena Drive
Doucet Road
Portions of the northwest bound left-turn and through lanes within the 100 block of Doucet Road are scheduled to be closed from January 28 through February 11, 2025.
Motorists traveling northwest bound on Doucet Road approaching Johnston Street will encounter lane reductions prior to the work area.
Residents are advised to exercise caution and plan for potential delays when traveling in these areas.
