Lafayette, LA (January 31, 2025) – At approximately 11:32 a.m., officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of Theo Street. The suspect, identified as Kervon Duhon, allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend, the victim, and threatened to shoot both her and himself. Duhon then fired a weapon into the ceiling before fleeing the scene on foot prior to officers’ arrival.
A description and name of the suspect were provided to patrol officers. At approximately 1:00 p.m., Duhon was located near the intersection of Evangeline and W. Congress Streets. A foot pursuit ensued, during which Duhon’s gun discharged in his pocket as he attempted to jump a fence. He was subsequently apprehended and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Duhon, a 23-year-old black male from Lafayette, had two active felony warrants. He is now also charged with resisting an officer, child endangerment, battery of a dating partner, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal carrying of a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm. Upon release from the hospital, he will be booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on these charges.
