Baton Rouge, LA (January 29, 2025) – Governor Landry issued an Executive Order amending the State of Emergency issued on January 1, 2025. This Executive Order ensures that all necessary precautions will be taken to prioritize the safety of all residents, athletes and visitors for Super Bowl LIX.

The amendments made will allow the Louisiana State Police to develop and publish specific geographic boundaries of a French Quarter Enhance Security Zone (FQESZ) to the public. Checkpoints will be set up at each entrance to the FQESZ, and any destructive, explosive materials, coolers or ice chests of any kind will be prohibited within the FQESZ. Any bags or containers larger than 4.5” x 6.5” are subject to search by law enforcement prior to entering the FQESZ.

This action comes after the placement of IEDs in coolers during the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans. State and local leaders are taking every action necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl for both visitors and locals alike.

“Super Bowl LIX is the perfect opportunity to showcase New Orleans as the world class city it is. In order to do this, we must prioritize the safety of every single visitor and resident in the city. Today’s action demonstrates the commitment of federal, state, and local officials to make sure the Super Bowl flows seamlessly and safely. These security measures were put in place to balance the security of everyone with the freedoms we all enjoy in this country,” said Governor Jeff Landry.
