Lafayette, LA (February 21, 2025) – The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on February 20, 2025, in the 300 block of Carmel Drive.
At approximately 9:25 PM on February 20, 2025, officers responded to a call for medical assistance at the residence. Upon arrival, officers assisted paramedics in providing CPR to the victim, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital. The victim was later pronounced deceased.
Due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, investigators were called to the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that Shantee Brousard (B/F/44) of Lafayette had been involved in a domestic altercation with her boyfriend prior to her death. A crime scene was established, and the residence was processed.
An autopsy conducted on February 21, 2025, showed preliminary findings from the pathologist to indicate the victim suffered injuries consistent with strangulation and blunt force trauma. The official cause of death is pending further examination.
As a result of the investigation, Jarvon Montague (B/M/46) of New Iberia, LA has been arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder. He has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
