Broussard, LA (June 16, 2025) – Property owners in the City of Broussard are not subject to a municipal property tax (MPT). Instead of utilizing MPT, the city generates its revenue from sales tax, utility fees, permits, licenses, and other charges.

Property owners in Broussard are required to pay property taxes to the parish in which their property is located. Most of the city falls within Lafayette Parish, while a smaller section extends into St. Martin Parish.

Each parish may impose taxes for school districts, libraries, roads, special tax districts, and other purposes.

For information on property taxes in Lafayette Parish, visit the Lafayette Parish Assessor’s website. For St. Martin Parish, go to the St. Martin Parish Assessor’s website.
