Lafayette Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Vehicle Burglary

Lafayette Parish, LA (January 19, 2026) – A 22-year-old Lafayette man is under arrest following a vehicle burglary investigation in Lafayette Parish.

Patrol deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 500 block of Rue Scholastique in unincorporated Scott Sunday evening, in reference to a vehicle burglary. There, a firearm and a purse were reported stolen.

A short time later, assisting patrol deputies and Real Time Crime Center agents located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle provided by the victim. 

Tyler Mouton, 22, of Lafayette, and a juvenile passenger were found inside the vehicle. Mouton was arrested taken into custody at the scene.

Mouton was later booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

• Simple Burglary of a Vehicle

• Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile

• Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Juvenile

• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies

Mouton was also issued a citation for possession of less than 14 grams of marijuana.

This investigation remains ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
