Geared for Broussard
Broussard, LA (February 9, 2026) — Charles Sharma, a 45+ year resident of Broussard, has announced his candidacy for Broussard City Council, District 2. Sharma is running on a platform focused on transparency in city government, increased community involvement, and strong support for local businesses.
A lifelong member of the Broussard community, Sharma has been actively involved in organizing community-driven events through his Mardi Gras krewe, including blood drives, health fairs, and fundraising efforts benefiting the Broussard and Youngsville Police and Fire Departments. He is also the founder of the BYOB Hamburger and Hotdog Festival and the BYOB Boudin Cookoff, proudly bringing boudin back to Broussard.
Sharma attended local Broussard schools, graduated from St. Thomas More, and earned his degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He has built a long-standing career in the oilfield industry while always calling Broussard home.
“I believe Broussard is strongest when its citizens are informed, engaged, and involved,” Sharma said. “I’m ready to bring a new face, fresh energy, and open communication to city government.”
