Lafayette, LA (February 23, 2026) – Emilia Pardo, a lifelong Lafayette resident and
dedicated public servant, announces her candidacy for Lafayette City Court Judge, Division B,
this November. With a career devoted to protecting victims, enhancing public safety, and serving
the community with fairness, Emilia pledges to bring her experience and commitment to City
Court.

Emilia proudly graduated from Lafayette High School in 1998. She went on to the University of
Louisiana at Lafayette, then Loyola University College of Law, building a career in prosecution
focused on justice and advocacy for victims.

After graduating from law school, Emilia and her husband returned to Lafayette to raise their
family. She is involved in the community and at her children’s school, and values opportunities
to contribute locally. For Emilia, Lafayette is where her personal and professional lives are
rooted.

With 16 years of experience as an Assistant District Attorney and currently serving as Scott City
Court Magistrate, Emilia seeks the support of Lafayette voters to serve as the next City Court
Judge. She is a dedicated advocate against domestic violence and has served as a Task Force
Member for the Family Justice Center of Acadiana for 10 years. In 2023, she was recognized as
Ally of the Year by Faith House & the Family Justice Center of Acadiana for her commitment to
supporting survivors. Her work has shown her how court decisions impact individuals, families,
and the community. City Court is often the first point of contact with the justice system, often
during challenging times. Emilia believes everyone who enters the courtroom deserves dignity,
fairness, and respect. If elected, Emilia will bring integrity, common sense, and compassion to
the bench, prioritizing an efficient, fair, and accessible court.

Emilia and her campaign extend sincere gratitude to Judge Saloom for his years of service and
dedication to Lafayette. As he retires, we thank him for his steady leadership and the positive
impact he has made on the community.
