WASHINGTON (Dec. 16, 2023) – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant the Port of New Orleans a total of $73,779,805.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for the construction of a new container terminal in St. Bernard Parish along the Mississippi River that is not air-draft restricted.

“This is a great day for the Port of New Orleans and our state. The funding will not only benefit the port but also create numerous jobs and boost our communities,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Because I had a seat at the table for the infrastructure law, Louisiana is punching above its weight in the amount of funding we are receiving. We are building an economy for 2050.”
