WASHINGTON (Feb. 22, 2024) – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will grant Louisiana $69,422,000.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to implement drinking water and clean water infrastructure upgrades.
“Investing in Louisiana’s water infrastructure is a key part of long-term economic growth and making our towns better places for families to live,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Improving our water, sewer, and drainage systems revitalizes communities.”
Background
The Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (SRF) provide grants and forgivable loans to improve drinking water treatment, fix water distribution, improve sources of water supply, and replace or construct finished water storage tanks. Since 2022, Louisiana has received more than $301 million from the Infrastructure Law for water infrastructure projects across the state. IIJA provides additional funding each year through 2026, meaning Louisiana can expect to receive more funding for water infrastructure over the next two years.
