Cassidy Announces $78.1 Million for LA Transportation

WASHINGTON (Mar. 11, 2024) – Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant Louisiana a total of $78,147,718.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for transportation infrastructure and safety improvements.

“Because I had a seat at the table, Louisiana is punching far above its weight in funding from the Infrastructure Law,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will improve transportation infrastructure, reducing commute times and creating new jobs. By investing in Louisiana’s economy, we are making our state an attractive place for families to live and grow.”

$61,544,718City of New OrleansThe proposed project seeks to improve safety and mobility for people walking, bicycling, and using transit along the I-10 Service Road corridor in New Orleans East. 
$13,643,000City of Baton RougeThis proposed project will implement safety and drainage improvements on Thomas Road in Baton Rouge, Baker, and East Baton Rouge Parish.
$2,000,000Louisiana Department of Transportation and DevelopmentThe purpose of this planning and feasibility study is to build upon the results of previous planning efforts in order to develop and evaluate proposed improvement alternatives while maintaining operations and safety for interstate traffic.
$960,000City of SlidellThis Community Planning Grant solely seeks funding for the Phase I Planning activities of the City of Slidell Mobility Master Plan (Connect Slidell), to plan for a more interconnected transportation infrastructure and livable city for all.
