LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (Mar. 13, 2024) – The Lafayette Parish School System is proud to announce that the National Beta Club at L.J. Alleman Fine Arts Magnet Academy is a 2023-2024 National Beta John W. Harris Leadership Award recipient. Named after Beta’s founder, the John W. Harris Leadership Award recognizes outstanding clubs based on how they embody Beta’s four pillars of achievement, character, leadership and service.
Nominations were reviewed and the top five clubs per division were carefully selected by an Alumni Review Committee. Winning clubs will be eligible to take 10 members to the Regional Leadership Summit of their choice the following fall to hone their communication, networking and leadership skills.
National Elementary Beta includes grades 4-5, National Junior Beta includes grades 6-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12.
One of the club’s sponsors, Mariah Miller, reacted to the news stating, “I am so incredibly proud of these students for the hard work and dedication that they devote to being active members of our club. We always know how wonderful they are, but watching them be recognized on a national level really allows them to see the kind of impact they are truly having on all of us. I feel honored just by knowing them.”
