Country music singer Randy Travis’ voice can be heard again, thanks to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the help of his friend, country singer, and Broussard resident James Dupré.

In 2013, Travis suffered a stroke that left him with limited ability to speak.

CBS This Morning featured the story, which described how music with Travis’ voice was accomplished through AI and Dupré’s singing. The music from Travis’ tracks was stripped away, leaving only the vocals. Dupré sang those tracks, and Travis’ voice was overlaid on top of Dupré’s singing using AI.

Randy Travis’ voice is like a hug from an old friend and a voice that has been so greatly missed. It has been an absolute honor to be a part of helping to lay the foundation for bringing his voice back to the world, to his fans, and most importantly, to Randy. I hope there’s more “where that came from”.
