WASHINGTON (May 22, 2024) – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation will grant the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority $5,492,524.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to redesign and upgrade the St. Charles Streetcar route.

“The St. Charles Streetcar is an iconic line that connects Uptown to the Central Business District,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding from the infrastructure law will revitalize the world’s oldest continuously operating street railway, preserving New Orleans culture for locals and tourists alike.”
