Lafayette Parish, LA (December 12, 2025) – The Lafayette Parish School Board has approved a one-time $3,000 stipend to attract newly hired, certified Algebra I and Geometry teachers for middle and high school vacancies beginning in the Spring 2025–26 semester. This targeted incentive supports the district’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its educator workforce and ensuring students have access to high-quality math instruction.
To receive the stipend, applicants must apply by January 16, 2026, and remain employed through their last contracted workday.
Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. says math vacancies continue to be among the most challenging to fill and believes this initiative will widen the pool of qualified candidates.
“Middle and high school math positions are consistently some of the hardest roles to staff. Earlier this year, we incentivized teachers who started the school year with LPSS, which meant mid-year hires did not qualify. By offering this stipend now, we’re creating an opportunity for talented educators from across the region to join our team and benefit from the district’s ongoing efforts to increase teacher compensation,” said Touchet.
LPSS encourages interested applicants to apply online under the Careers tab at ChooseLPSS..com and take advantage of the limited-time opportunity.
