Cassidy Announces Over $1.5 Million for Louisiana Ports and Airport Improvements from His Infrastructure Bill

WASHINGTON (March 25, 2026) – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $1,528,378.00 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation through his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding will support improvements to ports and airports across the state to help move goods and support local economies.

“Stronger ports and airports mean a stronger Louisiana economy,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding helps move more goods, support local jobs, and keep our state competitive for decades to come.”

$772,800.00Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District  This grant provides federal funding for the procurement, delivery, and assembly of a rough-terrain crane, track skid steel loader, and related equipment to support operations at the port’s terminal facility.
$400,000.00Columbia Port CommissionThis grant provides federal funding to develop a plan to support expansion of rail and waterborne facilities along M-167 to handle increased cargo and containerized freight.
$315,400.00City of New Roads and Pointe Coupee ParishThis grant provides federal funding to acquire 3 acres of land for future airport development at False River Regional Airport.
$40,178.00Parish of St. LandryThis grant provides federal funding for design of two new sponsor-owned aircraft storage hangars at St. Landry Parish Airport to support revenue generation and self-sustainability.
