The sales tax proposition supports classroom teacher salaries and related benefits. Interest earned on the reserve fund is distributed annually to eligible teachers as an additional payment known as the “13th Check.”

This year, the district will distribute $1,461,904 to 2,253 eligible teachers. The 2026 payment marks the largest individual “13th Check” since the program began in 2006.

Recent “13th Check” payments include:

  • 2021: $135.50 per teacher
  • 2022: $20.69 per teacher
  • 2023: $19.49 per teacher
  • 2024: $364.76 per teacher
  • 2025: $598.44 per teacher
  • 2026: $648.87 per teacher

“This additional payment reflects our continued commitment to supporting the teachers who make a difference for students every day,” said Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr.
