There are many steps in the process to achieve the end result for a promotional or uniform shirts. At Perfect Fitz, their team makes it all happen.
Perfect Fitz is a one stop shop for promotional and uniform shirts. Customers choose the style and color of the shirts. Their inhouse graphic designers creates the graphic design and after the graphic is approved by the customer, the design moves into the production department, then on to the customer. Most of their shirts are done with silk printing. For smaller jobs they do direct to film. They also do embroidery.
They first started on December 1, 2002 when Jody Gerard was convinced by her son Landon Fitzgerald to purchase School Time Silk Screening. With the business being on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s (ULL) campus, it made it easy for Fitzgerald to leave classes on the campus to help his mom. Fitzgerald graduated with a degree in accounting but held off pursuing employment as an accountant for one year to work with his mother. Things took off from there and he continued working in the promotional shirt business.
Gerard’s business started with three to four employees with one thousand seven hundred and fifty square feet of space. Their printing was done manually. In 2008 they purchased an automatic press and housed it in a shop in Youngsville. In December 2014 they relocated to Broussard on Burgess Drive with twenty-five employees and eight thousand square feet of space.
Gerard and Fitzgerald later became fifty-fifty partners. Dane Hebert, Fitzgerald’s right-hand man, primarily takes care of online fulfillment, but also with anything else that needs to be done in the company.
Fitzgerald said he understands the importance of investing back into the company along with the need for efficiency and updated equipment. Automation was done six to seven years ago which made things more efficient for the company.
Wanting to be a positive effect on others, Fitzgerald expressed his desire to lift up others and to give back to others in the community and to his staff.
Fitzgerald works to promote positive energy in the work environment. His goal is to help his employees experience personal growth to benefit them personally and professionally. He allows each employee to accept and sign a “You are invited on my Bus” ticket. On the ticket are personal growth items to show the employees what they are accepting and to work towards as an employee. He said he realized his employees are not slaves to serve him, that he is a slave to serve them. This he said creates a better work environment for all.
