I will let you in on conversations I have going on in my head sometimes; maybe this will relate to some or give peace to others.

When I look at social media, I see others that I perceive are doing better than me and at a faster rate. My subconscious wants to compare myself and my status with the person. I then go down this path of comparison as if what that person is doing or how fast they seem to be doing it is in any way compared to where I’m going and at the speed I am on track for. I then have this conversation with myself. No matter what someone else is doing or what is perceived, it has nothing to do with me. Our finish lines are entirely different, our desires are completely different, our longevity on the track, and our desires are completely different.

I then refocus and remind myself of what God has called me to do. I then find gratitude in where I am, how far I’ve come, and where I’m going.

Someone else’s journey is just that; it’s someone else’s journey. You can find inspiration and motivation in someone’s journey; however, comparing yourself to someone else’s journey is never okay. My honesty with myself about those feelings and then writing them on paper in my journal has allowed me to see things from a different angle. I hope this helps some of you who get down on yourself when you see others rise up or life being perceived as going perfectly for someone else. Let’s stay focused on where we are going. God has a plan for each one of us.
