Bringing the past challenges up to think about in the present helps me to remember the pain, struggle, perseverance, and what it took to overcome.

This morning, I set out faster than normal, not intentionally though. The first mile went by with no problem. Feeling good and breathing good. Once I crossed my second mile my shoes felt like someone snuck some weights in them. Every stride became a challenge. My breathing got out of control. I felt as if I was redlining, so I stopped at the beginning of mile three to walk. In my last mile, I ran slower so I wouldn’t stop and walk again. Surprisingly, my third mile was faster than any typical mile I have run this year, and I thought I was just coasting.

During this time, I brought forward past life challenges that I have faced that caused me to walk mentally. The pain, emotions, feelings, people’s words, and embarrassment were almost too much to bear at the time.

As I took off for my quarter-mile sprints. Every raindrop that hit my face and the cool breeze were both conditions that would prevent me from exercising; however, today, I do it without a second thought. I was reminded that out of all the things I’ve been through in my short life, I am still standing here. I want to encourage you that you will get through it no matter how hard times are right now. You’ve been through many tough things before and overcame those things. This time is no different. Hang in there.
