Broussard 2026-2027 Budget Includes New City Council Chambers, Water and Sewer Rate Increases

Broussard, LA (June 26, 2026) – The City of Broussard’s fiscal year 2026-2027 budget includes funding for a new standalone City Council chambers facility, increases to water and sewer rates, and a projected increase in sales tax revenue.

According to the City Administration, the budget includes $1.7 million for the City Council chambers project. The total consists of $1.5 million for construction of the facility and $200,000 for site work.

There is currently no projected start date for construction because the project remains in the design phase, officials said.

The fiscal year 2026-2027 budget projects a two percent increase in sales tax revenue. According to the City Administration, the projection is based on continued residential and commercial growth in Broussard.

The fiscal year 2026-2027 budget also includes a five percent increase in water rates and a ten percent increase in sewer rates, effective July 1, 2026. According to the City Administration, the increases are based on the opinion of the city’s auditor.
