Broussard, LA (May 20, 2026) – The City of Broussard celebrated the official ribbon cutting of its new City Hall Municipal Complex on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 406 East Madison Street.
The Broussard Fire Department Honor Guard and the Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard participated in the ceremony.
Mayor Ray Bourque, Alderman-at-Large Jeff Delahoussaye, and council members David Bonin, Jesse Regan, Heather Girouard, David Forbes, and Kody Allen joined city staff and community members for the ceremony, recognizing the project as an investment in Broussard’s future.
The city purchased the property and adjacent buildings in 2025 for $3.675 million, transforming the historic campus into a centralized hub for municipal operations.
Constructed in the early 1900s, the building previously served Broussard students as an elementary, middle, and high school before being repurposed as city hall.
The municipal complex has already been serving residents, with Tuesday’s ribbon cutting serving as the official public celebration of the project.
The new facility brings city administrative offices together in one location, providing additional workspace for staff and easier access for residents conducting city business.
Future plans for the site include demolition of a portion of the former police station in front of city hall and construction of a new City Council chamber.
Following the ceremony, attendees toured the facility while enjoying food provided by various local restaurants.
