Broussard, LA (May 13, 2026) – The Broussard City Council approved a $395,000 construction contract Tuesday night for the city’s Veterans Memorial at St. Julien Park.
Council approved the lowest bid submitted by Sartin, LLC, following a recommendation from project architect Bryan Boudreaux of Boudreaux Hoffpauir & Associates. Council packet documents show five bids were submitted, with Sartin’s proposal coming in as the lowest at $395,000. Other bids ranged from approximately $414,000 to $587,563.
The agenda referenced approval of the bid, with the project’s $395,000 cost included in the supporting council packet.
The Veterans Memorial project was first announced by city officials in August 2025 as part of planned improvements at St. Julien Park. City officials later held a groundbreaking ceremony for the memorial in March 2026.
“It’s important as a community to honor our veterans,” Mayor Ray Bourque said during the groundbreaking ceremony in March. “The memorial will be a respectful and peaceful place to gather for reflection and to recognize their service and sacrifice.”
The memorial is intended to honor veterans from all six branches of the United States military.
As part of Tuesday’s action, Mayor Ray Bourque, or his designee, was also authorized to approve project-related additions or deletions as needed and execute contracts and related documents necessary to complete the project.
