LAFAYETTE, LA (Apr. 1, 2024) – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that the U.S. Department of the Interior will award Louisiana $156,329,442.65 in Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) revenue-sharing funds. The funding, which is derived from offshore energy production, will be used to finance coastal restoration efforts in Louisiana.

The State will administer $125,063,554.13, and the remainder of the funding is dedicated across nineteen parishes. Six parishes in Louisiana’s 3rd District will receive $9,510,451.97.

The funding includes:

  • Calcasieu Parish – $1,691,776.20
  • Cameron Parish – $ 2,095,495.70
  • Iberia Parish – $1,617,190.25
  • St. Martin Parish – $1,153,309.09
  • St. Mary Parish – $1,341,025.75
  • Vermilion Parish – $1,611,654.98

“This announcement is a major investment for South Louisiana’s prosperity,” said Congressman Higgins. “GOMESA provides critical funding for coastal restoration and mitigation efforts along Louisiana’s coast. My office will continue to work with our federal partners to expand and preserve these important revenue-sharing provisions.”
