WASHINGTON (May 8, 2024) – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that Cole Ritter, an eleventh grader at Southside High School in Youngsville is the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Louisiana’s 3rd District.
Cole’s piece, titled “Rocket Lying on The Bed,” is a black and white charcoal drawing of his dog Rocket lying on his parents’ bed on a plaid blanket.
“South Louisiana is filled with talented young artists,”said Congressman Higgins. “Cole’s artwork is a beautiful piece showcasing the love of man’s best friend. It’s an honor to have his brilliant work representing Louisiana’s 3rd District in the U.S. Capitol.”
About the Congressional Art Competition:
Each spring, the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors an art competition for high school students. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved in the nationwide competition.
