Submitted by United States Representative Clay Higgins of the 3rd District in Louisiana.

WASHINGTON (November 18, 2024) – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued a public letter today, urging members of the Louisiana State Legislature to work together to reduce government spending and embrace conservative fiscal reform.

The letter reads, “Governor Jeff Landry and State Representative Julie Emerson are each true conservatives, dedicated to our state, and I’ve been honored to count each of them as close friends for many years. I appreciate their hard work in trying to lower taxes, cut spending, and increase revenue. This is quite a complex undertaking, and addressing the obscene state spending levels that they inherited from JBE is an incredibly challenging, complicated mission.”

“I encourage calm, patient deliberation from all Louisiana citizens as the State Legislature works on solutions to improve our tax code and reduce government spending,” continues the letter.
