Sergeant Brian Baumgardner with the Youngsville Police Department resigned from his position on the City of Youngsville’s Civil Service Board.

According to an article by The Acadiana Advocate today, Baumgardner emailed his resignation yesterday to board secretary Laurie Segura and board members Dawn Fournier and Benjamin Langlinais.

“With that said and the up coming high profile case, and the probability of retaliatory action against me based off my vote, please accept this as my immediate resignation from the Youngsville Civil Service Board.”

The high-profile case Baumgardner refers to is the firing of another sergeant at the Youngsville Police Department, Justin Ortiz, on April 13, 2023.
