Broussard Budget Hearing 2024/2025

The City of Broussard held a Budget Hearing on June 26, 2024. To view the budget hearing, view the video above (note: the date on the city’s video is incorrect. It should have June 26, 2024).

For the fiscal year of 2024/2025, some of the budget items stated at the budget hearing include:

  • Expenditures have been adjusted for a 7% salary increase for the Mayor and Chief of Police.
  • Expenditures have been adjusted for most city employees, excluding police and fire, to receive a 5% merit raise and will be allocated at the discretion of department heads.
  • Raises for police and fire will be according to the Police and Fire Department Pay Plan.
  • In total, expenditures for pay raises are $677,000.
  • For $1,600,000, the Main Street Water Tower and Highway 90 Water Tower will have inside and outside repairs and the outside painted.
  • Water and sewage prices will increase by 5% and 10%, respectively, starting July 1, 2024.
  • Garbage rates will increase according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on July 1, 2024, and again on January 1, 2025.
  • A Veteran Monument at St. Julien Park is budgeted for $50,000.
  • The Council chamber is to be renovated for $100,000. This will occur after the police department moves to the new Public Service Complex on Highway 90.
