The Broussard Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) works toward financial sustainability, economic growth and development for the City of Broussard. Opportunities are sought to incentivize businesses to come into Broussard, certifying retail ready sites and bringing tourism to Broussard.

Broussard has no city property taxes which provides a great incentive for businesses and families to live in and build in Broussard.

There is no paid staff and all members of the board are volunteers according to Toby Armentor, chairman of the BEDC. The City of Broussard City Council appoints the board of directors for BEDC.

BEDC is currently funded through the City of Broussard, and is looking to obtain additional funding through other sources according to Armentor. Board members meets monthly.

The Mission of BEDC is “The mission of the Broussard Economic Development Board is to serve the community of Broussard and its elected governing entity by identifying opportunities for long-term economic growth, financial sustainability, and a meaningful quality of life.”
