Broussard, LA (July 16, 2025) – The City of Broussard, in partnership with Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, is urging residents to sign up for notifications under the city’s new emergency alert system, LafayetteNOW.

“Fast and effective communication with our residents is a vital part of public safety,” said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “We need everyone to sign up for LafayetteNOW, to make certain that all residents receive important information promptly.”

Broussard residents who signed up for the previous alert system, Blackboard, must sign up for LafayetteNOW to continue to receive messages from the city. With LafayetteNOW, residents have options to get alerts sent to mobile devices by phone call, text message, and email. Notifications would be sent for hurricane/severe weather emergencies, traffic alerts/updates, law enforcement/public safety incidents, and city announcements.

Signing up for LafayetteNOW is easy. Go to www.lafayettela.gov/alert or text JOIN LFTALERT to 31002.
