Thirteen-year-old Emile Myers may one day change the world; he already has a head start. Emile has raised funds for the last five years for various organizations through his annual fundraiser, Emile’s Holiday Hot Cocoa. He wants to make a difference in the lives of others. This year, the benefactor of his fundraiser is Beacon Community Connections, and the funds are to help prevent teen suicide in Acadiana.

With his family and community by his side, tonight Emile can be found serving his holiday hot cocoa in the mugs he is selling for $25 for the fundraiser. The fundraiser is held outside of the Myers’s home in Lafayette.

Emile said his father, Brach Myers, works with him on the fundraisers; he added added, “I can not do this without the help of the community”.

Emile is an eighth-grade student at Episcopal Ascension School in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Beacon Community Connections was founded by Holly Howat, Ph.D., who is its Executive Director. The mission of Beacon is to empower anyone in need through connections, collaboration, and advocacy for individual wellness and community quality of life.
