Saluting Veteran Andres Gonzalez

Today, on Veteran’s Day, we spotlight Andres Gonzalez for his service to our country.

Gonzalez served our country in the United States Air Force and Army. He joined the Air Force in 1989 and went to Aviano Air Base in Italy with the 31st Fighter Wing. From there, he was deployed to Desert Storm in 1990. After returning to Italy in February 1991, he separated from the Air Force and stayed in Italy.

When Gonzalez returned to the United States in 1996, he joined the Army. He was with the 64th Brigade Support Battalion, D Company in Fort Carson, Colorado. His unit took him to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2005, he medically retired from the Army as a Staff Sergeant.

While in the Air Force, he was an Ammunition Specialist, preparing bombs and missiles for aircraft

In the Army, he was primarily a quartermaster, supporting combat brigades, such as oil, gas, water, etc.

Since 2011, Gonzalez has been with the Broussard Police Department as a Traffic Officer. He was previously with the Iberia Sheriff’s Department.
