YOUNGSVILLE, LA (February 20, 2025) – Mayor Ken Ritter is proud to announce that Malik Nabers, a Lafayette native, former LSU football standout, and current wide receiver for the New York Giants, will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade.

Nabers, who attended Comeaux High School before transferring to and graduating from Southside High, made a name for himself as an elite athlete in high school before taking his talents to Louisiana State University. At LSU, he quickly became one of the most electrifying wide receivers in the nation, setting records and making highlight-reel plays. His collegiate success led him to the NFL, where he now plays for the New York Giants, selected as the 6th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. In his rookie season, Nabers set an NFL record for most receptions by a rookie wide receiver, totaling 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. His outstanding performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection in 2025.

Mayor Ritter expressed his excitement about Nabers leading this year’s parade, stating:

“Malik Nabers is a true success story. From his roots in Acadiana to his achievements on the national stage, he has made us all proud. We are thrilled to welcome him home to Youngsville and celebrate his accomplishments as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade. His dedication and perseverance serve as an inspiration to young athletes across our region.”

Nabers also shared his enthusiasm for the honor, saying:

“Youngsville has always shown me love, and it means a lot to come back and be part of such a special tradition. I’m excited to celebrate with everyone and be part of this amazing community event.”

The 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade will roll on Saturday, March 1, at 11:00 AM, bringing the community together for a celebration of tradition, local pride, and family-friendly fun. Residents and visitors alike can look forward to seeing Nabers lead the parade, as Youngsville honors one of its own on this special day.
