UPDATE – Vermilion River Bridge/Roadway Closed on Ambassador Caffery

As of January 17, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., the only bridge/roadway that is currently closed is the 4000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway, at the Vermilion river.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an update to Interstate 10 conditions between Lafayette and Baton Rouge as the state continues to experience winter weather impacts.

Road conditions deteriorating statewide; safety is a factor for responders/drivers

The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) staff continue to apply salt and de-icing agents to bridges across the state. However, the staff and Motorist Assistance Patrol personnel who are on the roads have reported that roadway conditions are deteriorating and driving conditions are poor across the state.

US 190 in South Louisiana Open at this Time; Crews Continue Working Nonstop

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that while portions of I-10 between Baton Rouge and Lafayette remain closed due to winter weather, U.S. 190 remains open at this time. Portions of I-20 in the northern part of the state remain closed as well.

LCG Declares Civil Leave; Trash and Transite Also Suspended

In response to record-low freezing temperatures, Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Boulet has declared Civil Leave for Lafayette Consolidated Government employees beginning at 8:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

City Court of Lafayette Closure

Due to weather and road closures, the City Court of Lafayette will be closed until noon today, January 16, 2024.

UPDATE – NOW OPEN: DOTD announces closure of I-10 between St. Martin Parish and Baton Rouge, including Atchafalaya Basin Bridge

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that as a result of winter weather impacts, Interstate 10 is now closed in the east and westbound direction from La. 415 (Lobdell) to the base of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge in St. Martin Parish.

LPSS Announces School Closure Due to Extreme Cold Weather

After assessing the impact of the extreme cold weather in our area and in consultation with local officials, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has decided to close all schools and facilities on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in the best interest of safety for students, faculty, and staff.
