Ochsner Lafayette General is opening a standalone emergency department in Broussard.

The plan marks an expansion of the hospital’s services to a part of Lafayette Parish that has been growing exponentially — Broussard is one of the state’s fastest-growing municipalities, according to data released by World Population Review.

The project aims to bring “critical care closer to where people live and work as the region continues to grow,” the developer, Stirling, said in a press release.

The 14,000-square-foot facility will provide imaging and emergency services, with a scheduled start date for construction this spring and anticipated completion in summer 2027.
