LAFAYETTE, LA (October 31, 2024) – College Board announced that Lafayette High School has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning Bronze distinction.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for
students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria
that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for
students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
Of the 512 AP Exams taken, 68% received a score high enough to earn the student college
credits in a particular subject area. More than 340 AP students at Lafayette High took one or
more of the 23 AP tests offered.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our students for such an incredible achievement! Their success speaks
volumes about the dedication of our teachers and the quality of education at LPSS,” said LPSS
Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. “We are committed to finding even more opportunities to
help students reach their highest potential. A huge thank you to Principal Layne Edelman and
her outstanding team of educators for inspiring students to aim high and excel.”
Trevor Packer, head of the AP program, added, “The schools that have earned this distinction
are proof that it is possible to expand access to college-level courses and still drive strong
performance – they represent the best of AP.”
