Held nationwide at over 160 partner colleges and universities, AP Summer Institutes offer the most thorough professional learning available for AP educators. Attendees engage in over 30 hours of content-rich training designed to strengthen how they teach their AP courses.

“We are proud to partner with UL Lafayette to host the AP Summer Institute because it arms AP educators with the latest tools and strategies to take back to their learning communities,” said Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr.

The institute will be held on July 15-18, 2024. The following courses will be offered:

  • English Literature and Composition
  • English Language and Composition
  • Precalculus
  • Calculus
  • AP Biology
  • Human Geography
  • AP Government and Politics
  • African American Studies
  • Psychology

Dr. DeWayne Bowie, Vice-President of Enrollment Management for UL Lafayette stated, “We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) in hosting the College Board Advanced Placement Institute. Advanced Placement opens doors for students by giving them the opportunity to earn college credit, possibly reducing the cost of earning a college degree and giving them more time to explore other options while in college such as study abroad and internships. What an amazing opportunity for our students.”

Research shows that AP students are better prepared for college. They are more likely to enroll in college, stay in college, do well in their classes, and graduate on time in four years. Following challenging coursework, success on AP Exams helps students save money on college tuition and potentially graduate with less student debt over the course of their education.
