LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (September 11, 2024) – Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) schools and district offices will remain closed on Thursday, September 12, 2024. We understand that families may have chosen to leave prior to the landfall of Hurricane Francine and may need time to return home.

On Thursday morning, crews will be out assessing the conditions at our school campuses to ensure the safety and readiness of our facilities. We understand the importance of timely updates and will provide an official announcement by noon Thursday regarding the reopening of campuses.

District-level employees are expected to return to the office on Friday, September 13, 2024, unless otherwise notified.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our neighbors to the east who sustained a direct hit from Hurricane Francine.
