LAFAYETTE, LA (December 20, 2024) – This week, Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr., and the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) academic leadership team achieved a significant milestone, completing 200 school visits—four at each school in the district. These visits were part of an ongoing effort to support educators, provide constructive feedback, and ensure that the superintendent’s four core values—opportunity, safety, culture, and growth—are central to the educational experience in every classroom.
Reflecting on the initiative, Superintendent Touchet remarked:
“Opportunity, safety, culture, and growth should be hallmarks that accentuate the learning taking place in the classroom. I inspect what I expect, and our teachers and school administration amaze me with their dedication to our students’ success.”
The Lafayette Parish School Board acknowledged Superintendent Touchet’s commitment to fostering an effective educational environment, awarding him an impressive 3.58 out of 4 on his performance evaluation. Board members praised his leadership, vision, and passion for driving positive change across the district.
Looking ahead, the leadership team will resume school visits following the holiday break. Superintendent Touchet plans to prioritize instructional initiatives ahead of Spring testing while also addressing the upcoming budget season to ensure continued success for LPSS students and staff.
