St. Landry Parish Clerk Of Court Archives / Genealogy Workshops

OPELOUSAS, LA (February 11, 2025) – The St. Landry Parish Clerk Of Court Archives Department allows the public to link the past to the present through historical documents stored and recorded in Civil, Conveyance, and Mortgage records. The Archives Department can assist the public with genealogical research, deeds to property, probates/wills, family successions, marriage records, and searches related to civil and criminal dockets, all stored both digitally and physically.

The on-site Archivist is available to help the public become familiar with using the digital Louisiana Land and Marriage Records Search (LCRAA) software for conveyance, mortgage, and marriage records, as well as the digital Clerk Connect software for criminal and civil inquiries. Computers are readily available for public use.

Both appointment and walk-in scheduling are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Clerk Of Court Office at the St Landry Parish Courthouse, 118 South Court Street, Opelousas, Louisiana 70570.

  • Bonds, 1847 – Present
  • Livestock Brands, 1855 – 1970
  • Civil District Suits, 1813 – Present
  • Coroner Inquest, 1876 – 1965
  • Donations, 1826 – Present
  • Immigration Papers, 1820 – 1920
  • Conveyances, 1805 – Present
  • Miscellaneous Records, 1854 – 1964
  • Mortgages, 1927 – Present
  • Notary Books, 1818 – 1850
  • Partnerships, 1848 – Present
  • Probates, 1807 – Present
  • Probate Court Suits, 1822 – 1846
  • Sheriff Deeds, 1810 – 1924
  • Voter Registration Book, 1895 – 1898

Genealogical Tourism Workshops

In addition to the information available at the St Landry Parish Clerk of Court Archives, free public Genealogical Tourism Workshops are held monthly. Workshops include instructions on using the LCRAA computer system at the Clerk of Court’s office and the remote eclerks system. Seating is limited.
