In a surprise move at the first Broussard City Council meeting of the year, both the City Clerk and City Engineer positions saw shakeups.

City Clerk Tina Emert, who had held the position for several years, was not reappointed by the City Council following a vote of 4-3. Similarly, Walter Comeaux III, who had served as City Engineer, was not reappointed in a 4-3 vote.

The appointments for the Planning and Commission positions have been deferred to the next City Council meeting.

Tonight’s council meeting, which was the first for the newly elected council, was filled with transparency. Each council member took the opportunity to ask questions and Mayor Ray Bourque did his duty by providing feedback.
