Youngsville, LA (January 6, 2026) – Youngsville officially kicked off the Mardi Gras season today with its annual Mardi Gras Ceremony, bringing together city leaders, krewe members, and residents to celebrate tradition, community, and a milestone year for local festivities.

Mayor Ken Ritter officiated the ceremony, which was attended by members of the Youngsville Mardi Gras Krewes, including Krewe La Vie Doux and Krewe Des Amis, along with the royalty from both krewes. Also present were members of the Youngsville City Council, Fire Chief Rivette, Police Chief Broussard, and many community supporters who gathered to mark the beginning of the Mardi Gras season.

This year’s celebration carries special significance, as 2026 marks the 40th Annual Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade, with Krewe Des Amis serving as Grand Marshal. During the ceremony, the Krewe Des Amis president, Michael Williams, reflected on the humble beginnings of the parade, sharing that when it first started, the route passed through only four streets in downtown Youngsville.

Krewe Des Amis, which is also celebrating its 45th anniversary, is the oldest Mardi Gras krewe in Youngsville. Representing the krewe this year are King Desire XLIV, Kevin Louviere, and Queen Anastasie XLIV, Donna Louviere, who were recognized during the ceremony for their leadership and dedication to preserving Mardi Gras traditions.

Also introduced were the 2026 reigning royalty of Krewe La Vie Doux, King Matt Grayson and Queen Crystal Grayson, who will reign over the 2026 Mardi Gras season, adding excitement and pageantry to this year’s celebrations.

The Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, and will follow the same route as last year, welcoming families and visitors to line the streets once again for the beloved community event.

Mayor Ritter also highlighted another major event taking place during Mardi Gras weekend: the 2026 Mardi Gras Mambo Tournament, set for February 13–15 at the Youngsville Sports Complex. The tournament is expected to attract more than 250 athletes, representing 10 teams from six different states, bringing increased tourism and economic activity to Youngsville.

With historic milestones, honored traditions, and strong community participation, Youngsville’s Mardi Gras season is officially underway and shaping up to be one for the history books.
