Lafayette Police Investigates Shooting on Chester Street

Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Police Department responded to reports of shots fired around 12:48 p.m. Officers arrived in the 200 block of Chester Street and located a residence with multiple gunshots to its structure. At this time, no suspect(s) has been located, and no one was injured due to this shooting. 

Due to the shooting occurring in close proximity to Northside High School, the school was placed on lockdown to ensure that the students and administration were safe. The lockdown has been lifted, and the students were dismissed and allowed to board their buses safely.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are on scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
