LAFAYETTE, La. (Nov. 30, 2023) – On the evening of November 30, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 2000 block of North East Frontage Road about a shooting in progress. Upon arrival, officers located one adult male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Officers learned that the male victim was walking on NE Frontage Road when he was passed by the unknown male suspect walking on the opposite side of the roadway. The male suspect confronted the victim, at which time the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the victim, striking him in the leg. The suspect approached the victim, who had fallen to the ground, and forcefully took the victim’s cell phone. The suspect fled on foot before police arrival and could not be located.
Lafayette Police provided medical aid to the victim, who was later transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Lafayette Police officers are currently on scene attempting to locate potential witnesses and video that may have captured the incident.
