LPD Working a Fatal Vehicle Crash

Update

Lafayette, LA – Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle #1 was traveling northbound in the 3200 block of Moss Street at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons vehicle #1 lost control of his vehicle and veered across five lanes of travel before he was struck on the passenger side by vehicle #2 which was traveling southbound on Moss St in the outside lane. The driver of the vehicle #1 died as a result of injuries he received from the accident.  He has been identified as Thomas Green, 75 of Lafayette, LA.  The driver of vehicle #2 was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  This crash remains under investigation with the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Unit. The roadway is now open for motorists to travel.

Lafayette Police Are Working A Fatal Vehicle Crash

(3200 Block of Moss Street)

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police are on the scene of a major vehicle crash. The crash occurred around 11:03 a.m., in the 3200 block of Moss Street. There is one confirmed fatality at this time.

The Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Division is currently on scene and the investigation is ongoing. We are asking motorists to avoid the area while our traffic investigators conduct their investigation.  The roadway is blocked between I-10 and Morelan Drive. As more information is made available I will send out an update.
