LAFAYETTE, LA (Apr. 18, 2024) – The Sheriff’s Office received notification early this morning from the Coroner’s Office that the deputy in this case succumbed to his injuries.

LAFAYETTE, LA (Apr. 17, 2024) – Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators are investigating an off-campus incident involving a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer near First Baptist Christian School. The incident occurred in the 200 block of West Convent Street, where a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputy sustained life-threatening injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot. The deputy has been taken to a local medical facility, and the investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
